Child Health Research Center

At the Child Health Research Center, we support scientists engaged in basic and clinical research for the purpose of discovering innovative therapies for childhood diseases.

We bridge the gap between the laboratory and the bedside with cutting-edge research that improves the lives of children.

The mission of the center is to foster cutting-edge research that improves the lives of children. The Center will comprise research administration, support, laboratory, and core facilities in the MR-4 research building, as well as clinical research facilities in the new Battle Building. We expect that the Center will continue to grow and develop with the addition of investigators and support over the coming years.

On Thursday, May 30, 2024, The Child Health Research Center, Department of Pediatrics, hosted its 36th Annual Research Symposium. The renowned event began with an invigorating keynote lecture by Madhusmita Misra, MD, MPH “My Journey from Bone to the Brain.” Dr. Misra is the Benjamin Armistead Shepherd Professor and Chair of Pediatrics, UVA, Physician-in-Chief, UVA Health Children’s, and Fritz Bradley Talbot and Nathan Bill Talbot Professor of Pediatrics, Emerita, Harvard Medical School. R. Ariel Gomez, MD, Director of the Child Health Research Center (CHRC) gave the introduction and welcoming remarks.
