Oct 22 “Drosophila as a Model of Human Cardiomyopathies” – Pharmacology Seminar by Matt Wolf, M.D., Ph.D.

October 22, 2015 by zrb8mf@virginia.edu

[Jordan 1-17] Hosted by Michelle Bland.

The Wolf Lab seeks to understand how signaling molecules mediate cardiomyocyte growth, hypertrophy, and heart failure. We use novel approaches based on fruit fly genetics to identify genes that cause or modify cardiomyopathies and translate these findings using mammalian cell-based systems and transgenic mice. Our multidisciplinary approach employs state-of-the-art Optical Coherence Tomography, confocal microscopy, molecular and cell biology, proteomics, and physiology to understand cardiovascular disease.
