Jun 21 Endocrinology Grand Rounds: Steven B. Leichter, MD

Leichter, MD, is a nationally recognized, board-certified endocrinologist with special interests in metabolic disease and osteoporosis. He has published over 80 papers and continues to carry out clinical research in addition to his active endocrinology practice. He completed his medical degree at the University of Virginia, and his internal medicine residency and endocrinology training at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. He has taught at the University of California, Davis, the University of Kentucky, and Eastern Virginia Medical School.
Dr. Leichter organized the largest public health program in diabetes and metabolic disease in the United States — the Kentucky Diabetes Control Program. He also originated the National Diabetes Patient Education Recognition Standards of the American Diabetes Association, and has been the U.S. consultant on diabetes to the World Health Organization. His clinical interests include hormonal evaluations of orthostatic hypotension and tachycardia and metabolic evaluation of kidney stones.
