[Darden School, North Grounds, UVA] Program Description: This continuing medical education course is designed to provide general and community based gastroenterology physicians, general, internal medicine and family medicine physicians, physician’s assistants and nurse practitioners an opportunity to learn about and discuss the advances in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with liver disease and luminal GI diseases. Saturday lectures will cover topics on primary biliary cirrhosis/primary sclerosing cholangitis, non-celiac gluten sensitivity, mucosal resection in the colon, surgical management of pancreatic cancer, H. pylori, new therapies for nonalcoholic steatohepatitis, management of liver lesions, optimal candidates and contra-indications for TIPS, technologies for small bowel GI bleeding evaluation, advances in achalasia treatment: POEM, surgical management of rectal lesions/cancer, alternatives for colorectal cancer screening and new medications in IBD therapy. Both Friday and Saturday will include a Resident poster symposium and Friday evening there will be a hands-on workshop showing endoscopic techniques for two hours of CME credit.
