My research focuses on the development of a platform that allows the spatial patterning of 3D cell cultures within a microfluidic housing with the end-goal of modeling a lymph node on chip. The lymph node is a highly organized organ with distinct multi-scale structures that guide molecular transport and aid essential interactions between multiple cell types. Our strategy allows simultaneous control over cellular distribution, matrix composition in each region, and fluid flow. The chip will act as a complementary platform to perform experiments under controlled and reproducible conditions, as well as allowing experiments that could not be conducted on humans.
