Research Interest:

Our lab has found that pre-established gut commensal dysbiosis prior to the formation of HR+ breast cancer increases the dissemination of tumor cells to the distal lymph node, into circulation, and to the lungs. Importantly, the dysbiotic animals demonstrate increased inflammation and fibrosis, two known pro-metastatic phenotypes, within the tumor and the normal-adjacent mammary tissues. I am interested in understanding the cellular factors involved in the dysbiosis-induced fibrosis and subsequent tumor dissemination.
