On May 12th, Kristen Penberthy successfully defended her thesis entitled “Who watches the watchmen: Molecular coordinators of homeostasis in regulatory cell types”. Kristen studied the phosphatidylserine receptors MerTK and BAI1 and their functions in specialized phagocytes in the retina and the testes. Kristen will be returning to medical school here at UVA in order to complete her medical degree.
